Spring and The Boîte have sprung together, bringing you a great variety of emerging and established musical acts, friends old and new, acts of fusion, tradition and collaboration! It is time to look forward and reach new musical horizons without losing sight of what surrounds us and what we already have in Australia’s live music capital.
This spring, The Boîte offers a line-up of five exquisite and unique concerts, mixed with two more World Music Open Mic sessions and a very special event – Our 40th Anniversary Program Launch! Here’s to another 40 years of music, friendship and community.
To kick off the Spring program, on November 9 we venture to Box Hill to experience music that pays homage to our Northern Hemisphere counterparts – musicians Laura Risk and Rachel Aucoin conjure up the autumnal sentiments in their dynamic mix of Scottish and Canadian music.
Closer to our Melbourne home, the next day, a local outfit Samassin launches their new album of original music. Their compositions combine elements of jazz, eastern influences and contemporary classic music, reminding us that Melbourne constantly remains and becomes home to some awesome local and international artists.
The following week is a Tango one: dust up your patent leather shoes and fetch some red roses; get ready to enjoy The Boîte’s newest Tango import – sharing with us the charms of Argentine music and lore, Entre Tango Duo will appeal to Latin and broader world music aficionados.
Diamond interchange is exactly that – a scintillating gathering, a musical conversation and a celebration of community, art and the growing multicultural landscape of Australia and the world: featuring musicians from India, Australia, Iran and beyond.
The year ends at one of our dearest collaborating venues with one of Boîte’s old friends and frequent partners: presented at fortyfivedownstairs, LA MAUVAISE REPUTATION returns to intoxicate you with their selection of Manouche music and French chanson from the 1930s.
