Sadly, Eyal Chipkiewicz is moving on from the Boite, having completed his last day on August 13. We thank him for the many achievements he made during his time as Managing Director, setting the organisation on course for the future and highlighting many new possibilities that the sudden adaptation to the COVID crisis exposed.
Eyal’s decisive leadership and quick response to the onset of COVID, saw the Boite introduce a series of live and streamed, on line concerts under the banner of Adapt Not Cancel, keeping musicians employed and audiences engaged. This project extended into cross streaming musicians in other parts of the world.
Eyal also ensured that the singing projects and the Boite school’s activities found new avenues to continue in the digital world, expanding the Boite’s school’s presence through the development of educational singing resources for teachers.
Eyal introduced many new programs and performance initiatives to the Boite. Recognising the unmet needs of musicians from culturally diverse backgounds to be better networked and connected with the sector, he introduced ThisConnected. A fortnightly forum designed to keep musicians engaged with the issues that concern them as artists, build connections with industry guest speakers around topical issues, and to build their competencies to navigate the music sector through mentoring, sharing and structured activities. The success of this has lead to another new recently funded program, the Portfolio Project. Supporting emerging talent, and those whose local performance opportunities have been limited, he initiated the Suitcase project.
Eyal has built new relationships, partnerships and opportunities for the Boite to build upon and we wish him well for the future, as he expands his horizons to support culturally diverse artists from a broader range of art forms. The Committee of Management thanks Therese Virtue OAM, who has been with the organisation for nearly four decades, for agreeing to take on an interim Acting Managing Director position.
