Award-winning singer Karen Knowles teaches how to tune in to country and presents a unique heart-warming connected performance for Earth Hour 2020.
The Song Balm is a series of performances and workshops with the intention of honouring the original stewards of our land and acknowledging our own inter-connection to our country and to all of life. Award-winning singer Karen Knowles curates an embodied performance and educative space where audience members and singers experience how to tune in to country and presented within a unique, heart-warming, connected performance.
Earth Hour is a movement that started as a lights-off event in Sydney in 2007. Since then it has grown to become a global movement. More than 7,000 cities in over 180 countries take part in it. Millions choose to mark Earth Hour by going ‘lights out’ for 60 minutes as a symbolic show of solidarity.
Song Balm will be held as part of the 2020 Earth Hour global events. The event will take place in two parts. First, a 2-hour singing workshop where Karen will lead singers into an embodied space and will also teach participants a Wirradjirri song in language. Later that evening, Karen will perform a special listening space concert featuring original new music from her seventh studio release Solid Ground. Participants from the singing workshop will join her onstage to perform the song they learned during the workshop.
